The Band

The Easton Municipal Band is a collection of local musicians who perform a wide variety of concerts throughout the Lehigh Valley.  The band exemplifies an American musical tradition.  In years past, many small towns boasted of their own bands composed of local citizens, and weekly concerts were a regular event in the town scene.  These free public concerts introduced the latest musical compositions by both European and American composers to the town.  We are proud to continue this fine tradition of public music in America.

Currently, the band has over 50 playing members under the direction of Albert J. Shimkus, Jr., and represents a broad cross-section of the local community.  Membership is open to all ages and walks of life.  We practice year-round on Monday evenings and perform several times a year, mostly late spring through early fall.

In addition to a series of free public concerts, the band participates in holiday celebrations, memorials and official events in, and around, the city of Easton.  Our repertoire includes concert band literature, marches, selections from the stage and screen, as well as jazz and contemporary hits.  Please see the Schedule page for our latest list of performances.
